An Aerial View, Circa 1950

The basic outline is readily evident, but Esko’s little town center has changed considerably since this aerial view of about 1950.  The photo was shot by Esko’s Jack Bergstedt while taking flying lessons a year or so prior to his 1951 high school graduation.  Then as now, the school dominated the main intersection, but it’s hardly the same school today after at least four major renovations and/or additions.  The second most prominent structure at the time was the Arrowhead Creamery, to the west, or left, of the school.  Perhaps the most remarkable difference, however, is the amount of open land.
